Online Marketing: Putting the Pieces Together

puzzle pieces

Summer is wrapping up and you may be thinking about your fall marketing. Before you start anything new, the best thing you can do is take a few minutes to make sure that everything you’re already doing online is working the way you think it should.

Take a look at your website

Click on the links to your social media networks. Do they go where they’re supposed to go? If not, let your web design company know. Read through your site to make sure it reflects what’s happening now.

Send yourself an email. Check out your email signature – how does it look? Is the information accurate? Click on the links to your social media networks. Do they go where they are supposed to go? If not, time to update them.

Google yourself. Does your Google business listing come up? If you don’t have one, it’s time to set one up. It’s free. Once you’re verified, (Google will send you a postcard) it creates a real sense of credibility when people look you up. It’s also where you can collect those 5 star reviews from past clients.

Email marketing. Take a look at the last newsletter you sent out – or ask a trusted friend or colleague. Is it mobile friendly? Click on the links to your website and social media. Do they go where they should? I realize that this is beginning to sound repetitive, but I’ve seen enough dead links that it bears repeating, especially for something so easy to check! Does the design need a bit of a refresh?

Social media. I suggest the username on all your accounts is the same. It makes it seamless for people to follow you wherever you are. Want to follow us? We’re @mbdcto. See? Wasn’t that easy?

Facebook: Is your banner up to date? If you’re on a desktop, are the tabs correct? When you set your page up originally, you chose a general setting, this is something that can be customized. Are the bios correct?

Linkedin: The banner and headshot should be the same as Facebook. Make sure your information is correct.

Instagram: Is your bio and link up to date? You may have linked to a specific event or listing, make sure that you update it.

You can certainly go deeper into any of these subjects to improve your presence, but the purpose of this exercise is to ensure that you’re making a good first impression and you have a solid foundation.

All of this is possible for you to do, but if you’re looking for someone to take care of it, we can help.
