4 Fixes Your Real Estate Marketing May Need Right Now

As we move further into spring, most agents are thinking about listings, lead flow, open houses, and staying visible.

That makes sense. But before things get busier, this is also a smart time to take a hard look at your online presence.

Because here’s the reality: a lot of agents are putting real effort into marketing while still sending people to profiles, bios, and websites that are outdated, inconsistent, or unclear.

And in a slower market, those gaps matter more.

When people are taking longer to make decisions, they do more research. They compare more options. They check your website, your social media, your Google profile, and sometimes platforms you forgot you even had.

If what they find feels scattered, generic, or incomplete, it can weaken trust before a conversation even starts.

Here are five things worth cleaning up now.

1. Your Bio

Your bio should quickly tell people who you are, where you work, who you help, and most importantly, what makes you different.

Too many agent bios are either too vague or too stuffed with filler. If someone lands on your website, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, or Google Business Profile, they should be able to understand the basics almost immediately.

Ask yourself:

  • Does it clearly say what area I serve?
  • Does it reflect the kinds of clients I work with?
  • Does it sound like me?
  • Does it explain why someone should choose me?

If your bio could belong to almost any agent, it is not doing enough.

2. Your Branding and Consistency Across Platforms

You do not need every platform to look identical, but they should feel connected.

That means your headshot, name, title, brokerage, contact details, colours, tone, and overall positioning should make sense together.

A lot of agents have small inconsistencies that seem harmless on their own but add up quickly:

  • an old headshot on one platform
  • a different version of their name somewhere else
  • outdated brokerage information
  • mismatched bios
  • missing or broken links
  • a different tone from one platform to another

Consistency builds trust. Inconsistency makes your marketing feel patched together.

3. Your Links and Calls to Action

Where are you actually sending people?

This is one of the easiest things to overlook. Broken links, outdated Linktree pages, empty website buttons, and missing contact information are more common than they should be.

When someone finds you online, there should be a clear next step.

At minimum, make sure people can quickly get to:

  • your website
  • your featured listings or search page
  • your contact information
  • your reviews or testimonials
  • a simple way to reach out

If someone is ready to take action, do not make them work for it.

4. Your Google Business Profile

This is still one of the most overlooked pieces of an agent’s online presence.

For many people, your Google profile is the first thing they see before they ever visit your website. That means it needs to be accurate, complete, and current.

Check:

  • your business category
  • your description
  • your phone number
  • your website link
  • your service areas
  • your office hours if applicable
  • your recent photos
  • your reviews and review activity

If you haven’t looked at your Google profile in a while, there is a good chance it needs attention.

Why This Matters Even More in a Slower Market

In a busy market, some agents get away with weak marketing because speed covers a lot of flaws.

In a slower market, people are more cautious. They compare more. They hesitate more. They do more homework.

That means your online presence has to do a better job of building trust.

It doesn’t have to be flashy. But it does need to be clear, current, and consistent.
